Owner/Manager
Zia Yasrobi, PE
Zia moved to Jackson in 1978 and decided he did not want to leave this great community. After founding Y2 with wife Brenda Younkin, Zia has focused on providing a wide array of engineering services in Wyoming, Utah, and Florida. Zia holds a Class A Contractor license in the Town of Jackson and is licensed to practice engineering in 11 states. Zia gives back to the community in many ways, but his primary focus is in the Elks Club and Lions Club.
Owner/Natural Resources Specialist
Brenda Younkin, MS, CRMC
A native of Nebraska, Brenda completed graduate school at Utah State University and found her home in the mountains in 2001. After founding Y2 with husband Zia Yasrobi in 2010, Brenda stayed in touch with her ranching roots by working with federal land permittees and land management agencies to complete vegetation monitoring and grazing term permit renewals on federal lands. Brenda has extensive experience with NEPA, land use plan development, and standards and guidelines development. Brenda is a former skater for and big fan of the Jackson Hole Juggernauts roller derby league, serving as their treasurer for 6 years. Whenever she can, Brenda also volunteers her time with Community Safety Network and other community organizations.
Range Scientist
Bree Burton, MS
Bree is the Range Scientist at Y2 Consultants. Bree grew up in Challis, Idaho where she gained her passion for working with ranchers and public lands. Bree has been with Y2 for two and half years and focuses on coordinating the process for public land grazing permit renewals. Bree works with ranchers and federal land agencies across the west to assist with all aspects of the NEPA process including Land Health Evaluations and Environmental Assessments. In her free time, Bree enjoys camping, fishing, archery and exploring the great outdoors with her three dogs.
Rangeland Wildlife Specialist
Russell Burton
Russell has been a Rangeland Wildlife Specialist at Y2 since 2016. He is a true Wyoming native, born and raised. He grew up in Saratoga, attended the University of Wyoming, and now lives near Pinedale. He is an avid hunter, fishermen, archer, and outdoorsman, and is very involved in the Sublette County 4-H program. Russell’s expertise at Y2 includes rangeland, habitat, and wildlife management; vegetation data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting; interagency coordination; study design and implementation; and habitat improvement planning.
Fun fact: Russell achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through Boy Scouts of America and has received his American Degree through the National FFA Organization.
Administrative Manager
Carrie Daniel
Carrie has been an Office Manager at Y2 Consultants since July 2013. She grew up in Michigan and moved out west 36 years ago to be closer to her family. Carrie lived in the Jackson area for 16 years and is now working remotely from Boise, Idaho. (Technology is a wonderful thing!) Prior to Carrie joining the Y2 team, she worked in the medical and legal field.
Structural Engineer
Forest Davidson, PE
Forest has been a structural engineer at Y2 since the fall of 2019. His love for the outdoors and the mountains brought him to Wyoming from Missouri. He grew up in Moberly, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He has a passion for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Forest’s expertise at Y2 is structural design of materials including steel, timber, concrete, and masonry.
Civil Engineering
Jacob Gardner, PE
Jake has been a Civil Engineer at Y2 since 2018. A native of Florida, Jake traded in the waves and sunshine for the mountains to enjoy climbing and hiking. Jake received a B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and began a career in Land Development where he developed a skill set in road and utilities design. In his time at Y2, Jake has completed numerous projects ranging from simple site grading to stream restoration. Jake’s first visit to Wyoming was when he attended an outdoor educators course through the National Outdoor Leadership School in the summer of 2015.
Rangeland/NR Specialist
Danielle Goodman
Danielle is a Rangeland Field Crew Lead with Y2. Originally from Idaho, Danielle moved to Jackson three years ago to enjoy the outdoor opportunities and working with Y2. Danielle specializes in field data collection and planning, data QA/QC, and crew management. During the summers Danielle enjoys working in the field and skating the trails around Jackson.
Civil Engineering Manager
Skyler Helffrich, PE
Skyler is Y2’s Jackson office Civil Engineering Manager. He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from UMASS Amherst, and began his career as a transportation planner and roadway designer in Baltimore. He then moved to Boston to work as a roadway designer but his love of the mountains soon brought him out west. Skyler’s work has spanned from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Wyoming. Skyler’s area of expertise is road and pathway planning and design.
Civil Engineer
Tyler Klos, PE
Tyler grew up in Wisconsin, the land of cheese and the Green Bay Packers. Tyler received a B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. His career path started near his hometown where he gained experience in site planning, grading, and stormwater management. Typical projects in the region ranged from apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, and commercial developments. He decided to make the move to Jackson to explore the Tetons skiing, fishing, hiking, and camping with his wife and dog.
Associate Civil Engineer
Adarsha Neupane
Adarsha started with Y2 Consultants in 2022 as an Associate Civil Engineer. He came to the University of Wyoming in Fall of 2019 to attend graduate school and immediately fell in love with the Wyoming outdoors. It reminded him of his country Nepal with mountains, snow, and beautiful scenery. Adarsha likes hiking, camping, and going on road trips with friends. His interest in civil engineering stems from his childhood experiences with his father who worked in construction. In his time in graduate school, and working as a civil engineer, he has developed specific interests in water resources and transportation.
Marketing Coordinator
Kosha Olsen
Kosha has over 20 years of marketing, communication, and program management experience, primarily in Wyoming’s agriculture sector for the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and Wyoming Beef Council. Kosha grew up on the farm her great-grandmother homesteaded in 1908 near Albin, WY, attended Northwest College in Powell for two years, and transferred to Kean University in New Jersey to complete a bachelor’s degree in communication. Kosha, her husband, and three children live in Cheyenne. She enjoys cooking, music, and travel. Kosha sits on the board of directors for her local electric cooperative, High West Energy.
Finance Manager
David Robertson
David has over 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry in various roles including subcontract management, project management, CFO and, most recently, as the Commercial Director on 4 large LNG (liquefied natural gas) projects. He has a bachelors degree in naval architecture and ocean engineering from Glasgow University, a masters from University College London (UCL) and an MBA from Cranfield University.
David grew up in Scotland, moved down to England after University and then came out to Houston some 20 years ago. He moved to Jackson a year ago with his wife, Brooke, and their 3 year old son, Duncan.
He loves to sail, ski, hike and bike and can also be found volunteering at local Lions Club events.
Accounting Specialist
Danielle Scott
Danielle has been an administrative assistant at Y2 since the fall of 2018. She reluctantly moved here from the UP of Michigan with her husband in 2007 so he could snowboard and play in the mountains. With a background as a medical office specialist and in small business management, Danielle has a keen eye for detail. She is a former skater for the JH Juggernaut roller derby team, a dog mom, and a self-proclaimed craft nerd.
Marketing Specialist
Jamie Spaulding
Jamie has over 20 years of marketing and communications experience supporting engineering firms of all sizes in their marketing goals. She is experienced in the preparation of proposals and presentations, as well as promotional, and collateral marketing material in a deadline driven setting. In addition, she has developed the skills necessary to recognize, establish, and maintain key client relationships. Jamie also possesses a strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practices. She grew up in Nebraska and ventured to West Virginia University on a full athletic scholarship, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations. Jamie and her family live in Fort Collins, Colorado. She and her husband have two school-aged daughters. She enjoys hiking, camping, coaching, and volunteering for her children’s activities.
Land Surveyor, Water Rights Specialist
Liberty Blain, PLS
For over 20 years, Liberty has worked for Wyoming’s water and natural resources in state and local government. At Y2, she serves as a professional water scientist and Land Surveyor with extensive experience in water law, permitting, water rights adjudication, and petitions to the Wyoming Board of Control, as well as stream surveys, and watershed planning. She is also knowledgeable in plant biology and agriculture. Liberty holds a master’s degree in Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management / Water Resources from the University of Wyoming and is passionate about bringing together the disciplines of land surveying and water rights. She has great enthusiasm for getting women of all ages and abilities outdoors and can often be found camping, hiking, and snowshoeing through the year.
Cheyenne Office Operations Manager
Rich Cripe, PE
Rich oversees operations of our Cheyenne office. He is a Wyoming native, raised in Douglas. In 1991, he obtained a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Wyoming. He worked for 28 years for the State of Wyoming at the Department of Transportation, Wyoming Water Development Commission, and Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. Rich’s experience has focused primarily on transportation engineering, contract administration, project management, municipal utility engineering and planning, and leadership. Rich joined Y2 Consultants in May 2021. In his spare time, he is involved in home renovations, spending time with family and friends, and many activities that get him into the Wyoming outdoors.
Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Jerry Downs, PE
Jerry is a Wyoming native, born and raised in Cheyenne. He obtained an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Wyoming in 1975. He worked for the Wyoming Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 2013 as the State Electrical Engineer, Operations. Jerry’s experience focuses on traffic signal engineering, designing electronic control circuits for various traffic control devices, and project management. Jerry has worked part-time for Y2 for 30 years. Jerry also maintained a Journeyman Electricians License for many years and obtained his International Municipal Signal Association Level III certification as well. In his spare time, Jerry enjoys team roping, building spurs, and spending time with his horses.
Senior Project Manager
Lou Harmon, PE, PLS, PG
Lou grew up on a sandhill farm in Northeast Colorado, 2 ½ miles from the next-door neighbors. He found his way out of the hills to Golden, Colorado, and the Colorado School of Mines. He graduated with a degree of Professional Engineer of Engineering Geology in 1967. Lou is a Professional Engineer, Professional Land Surveyor, and Professional Geologist. In his 54 years of professional life, he has been an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, owned a civil engineering and land surveying practice, worked for the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Water Quality Division with the water and wastewater programs, and retired. The next week he began with Y2 Consultants on a part-time basis. Lou has developed a clientele of large livestock operations assisting them with wastewater designs and permitting. Lou and wife Julie love their home in Cheyenne overlooking F.E. Warren Air Force Base and the front range. They enjoy gardening, especially raising tomatoes.
Senior Civil Engineer
Adrienne Lemmers, PE
Adrienne is a true blue Wyomingite. She grew up in Casper and then went to the University of Wyoming in Laramie to get her BS and MS in Civil Engineering. She moved into the abyss between Laramie and Cheyenne where she still resides. Adrienne worked with WYDOT as well as Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality before coming to the Y2 team in 2013. She has designed and managed a variety of projects from roadways to non-motorized trails to septic systems, site plans and everything in between. She also works on agricultural design projects and does environmental sampling and reporting. Adrienne enjoys practicing karate and hanging out in the outdoors in her free time.
Cheyenne Administrator
Ann Marie Taylor
Ann Marie has been the Office Manager at Y2 Consultants since 2006. Her primary responsibilities are Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Human Resources, and administrative support. She has lived in Cheyenne almost her entire life and enjoys spending time with her dog and her family.
Engineer/LiDAR Specialist/GIS Technician
Brian Neville, PhD, EIT
Brian is originally from eastern Nebraska. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, an MS in Aerospace Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. His professional and academic experience includes tracking storage conditions for explosive warheads for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, simulating launch conditions for a proposed International Space Station emergency rescue craft, and creating a composite metal foam through powder metallurgy. After moving around the East Coast for a couple of years for school, training, and various jobs, he and his wife moved to Cheyenne to be somewhat closer to family but still near the mountains. He joined Y2 in 2013 to process LiDAR but has since found himself doing a little of everything, from drafting to intersection layouts, to GIS to Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations and Nutrient Management Plans. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey, hiking, road and mountain biking, and baking.
Intern
Maxwell Waite
Maxwell has worked as an Intern in the Survey Department at Y2 Consultants since 2020. In the fall of 2020, he transferred to the Cheyenne office while attending the University of Wyoming. Maxwell grew up in Central Minnesota and moved out west to pursue his degree. Maxwell is a part of the Triathlon Team at the University, and in his free time he enjoys playing basketball, hunting, and fishing.
Structural Department Manager
Jessyca Cochran, PE
Jessyca brings more than 18 years of experience in the structural engineering field to Y2. Since her graduation from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA in 2004, she has been working on structural design projects in California, ranging from small remodels to custom multi-story residential projects and commercial design. The emphasis of her background in engineering has been focused on wood design with concrete and steel elements as well as site retaining walls and other concrete and steel structures. She went on to earn her Master of Business Administration degree from the California State University, East Bay, in 2009 and served as the principal engineer and owner of JVC Engineering for more than a decade. During that time, she was responsible for managing all business operations, performing lead engineer duties, field inspections and project observations, hiring and training new engineers and managing all projects. Jessyca relocated to Wyoming and manages the Structural Engineering Department.
Survey Crew Chief
Andy Hudkins
Andy’s many years of outdoor experience, combined with his education and over 15 years of running survey crews, makes him a very qualified Survey Technician. He has supported all types of surveying work including, SAExploration, Extreme Surveys, as well as a full range of surveying deliverables for the USDA Forest Service. Andy has managed and led many crews in various outdoor settings and challenging situations. His exemplary management skills have enabled him to successfully complete projects within budget and in a timely manner. He has acquired a wide range of technical skills including GPS work, data collection, CAD, and survey-related computer skills. He is also able to draw upon extensive outdoor experience in backpacking, backcountry survival skills, climbing, snowshoeing, camping, canoeing, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and ice climbing.
Senior Planner
Megan Nelms, AICP
Megan has over 15 years of experience working as a planner in Wyoming. She earned a B.S. in Geography and Planning, a M.S. in Rural Sociology and Community Development, and certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners. Megan boasts strong community and social services experience, and is highly skilled in Site and Development Reviews, ArcGIS, Rural and Regional Planning, Long-Range Planning, Community Based Planning and Facilitation, and preparation and administration of publicly funded budgets. She is also experienced in building effective partnerships and collaborative working relationships.
Human Resources
Alicia Alfaro
Alicia Alfaro is our team’s Human Resource Coordinator. She is a native of Kansas, but has made Jackson her home since 2017. Alicia enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog and trail riding in the backcountry with her adopted horse. Her community involvement includes volunteering for Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding Association and is a member of the board of directors for the Jackson Hole Horse Rescue. Alicia joined the Y2 team in September 2022.
Senior Project Manager
James Brough, PE
James joined Y2 from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality where he served as the Water Quality Division’s Northwest District Engineer. He has extensive experience in water and wastewater systems of all sizes. James lives in Lander and works on Y2 projects across the State of Wyoming.
