Project Description
Laramie County, WY — 2020
The Archer complex is a new 850-acre County Municipal Complex housing the public works, municipal government buildings, fairgrounds, and Juvenile Justice Center. Within the project limits there are 10 miles of roadways and associated utilities including water, sewer, power, gas, etc. This was a bare site, except for some old buildings that are now part of the fairgrounds. All utilities and roads had to be designed, permitted, and constructed.
Western served as the principal civil engineering firm for this project from inception to final construction. We played a key role on the site master plan, mainly as it pertained to the preliminary drainage study, traffic study, and construction administration. Western has designed and obtained permits for the entire civil infrastructure associated with this complex. We also provided the design for all of the water and sewer needs for this infrastructure which included modeling the entire water and wastewater systems which included supply wells, a water tower, and an onsite treatment facility.
This project is unique in that the County complex did not have access to water and sewer. So the County requested that Western design an independent system that would be separate from any other entity.
