Project Description
Guernsey, WY (2012 – 2017)
From 2012 to 2017, Western served as lead civil engineer for planning, design, bidding, and construction engineering for complete new street and utility infrastructure for Camp Guernsey. The project included the design of asphalt streets, concrete curb and gutter, a new water and sewer system, drainage and detention design and construction, as well as natural gas, electrical service, and communications systems. The street construction totals approximately 10 miles.
A complete analysis of the entire water supply system was administered and modeled. Additional water lines were designed for future use and to be used during expansion of the facility for the next 20 years. Western also provided a complete analysis of the entire wastewater system and modeled it. For use in the future, additional sewer lines were designed to accommodate expansion of the facility for the next 20 years.
This project required a complete LiDAR aerial survey and engineering evaluation of all infrastructure for Camp Guernsey, including all roads, parking lots, water, wastewater, storm drainage, gas and electricity for the entire camp, for current planned projects and future projects extending out 20 years.
As part of this project, Western redesigned all gravel and asphalt roads on the Camp, incorporating designs for sidewalks, curb, and gutter. Western evaluated drainage for the entire camp watershed and designed facilities to accommodate current and future runoff from a 100-year storm event.
