Van Buren Corridor Study

Cheyenne, WY
Y2 developed the Draft Plan and 35% Design for the Van Buren Corridor in Cheyenne, WY. This is a 0.7-mile stretch of road that is seeing substantial growth, development, and change all around it. The plan recommends short, mid, and long-term solutions to adjust to the neighboring development and reduce speeds. The public has been genuinely concerned with how fast people drive on the collector, especially since Dildine Elementary is in the project corridor. Y2 also provided civil design for the remodel of Dildine Elementary along the corridor. The site is aesthetically pleasing, well laid out, and improves the safety of the elementary students that attend Dildine Elementary School. That project included the installation of a bus loop, parent parking and drop-off, as well as a faculty parking lot. All of these infrastructure improvements greatly aided in reducing the congestion and traffic issues that were seen on adjacent streets prior to the remodel. Y2 designed a mini roundabout to reduce speeds near the school. Y2 also provided a design to fit in reduced right-of-way widths while providing all the complete street components desired in a collector road. This project involved extensive public engagement, and the final recommendations took public input into account.
